Albufeira

Situated 43km west of Faro and easily accessible via the N125, Albufeira is widely regarded as the tourist capital of the Algarve. Boasting golden beaches, golf courses, great restaurants and lively nightlife, it is a holiday destination which appeals to a wide range of people, young and old.

The town itself consists of the old and new. The old charm is to be found in the labyrinth of narrow streets, lined with whitewashed houses, apartments, cafes and shops which lead down the hillside to a central square, a good place to sit and watch the world go by.

The New Albufeira is on the east side. Its most famous thoroughfare is affectionately known as “the strip”. It stretches from The Montechoro Hotel, past cafes, restaurants and bars, all the way down to the beautiful sandy beach of Praia de Oura.

Situated in central Algarve, Albufeira is within easy reach of all the major tourist attractions. Further details may be found on our activities page.

There are many beaches in the vicinity of Albufeira, to the west Praia da Baleeira, Praia da Coelha, Praia de São Rafael, Praia do Castelo en Praia da Galé. To the east Praia da Oura, Praia da Santa Eulália, Praia da Balaia, Praia da Maria Luísa, Olhos de Água en Praia da Falésia.
